Elaine's Baptism!!🌊🤍

Elaine was baptized on Saturday!! Elaine is the SWEETEST, I love her so much and I've really loved seeing her grow her testimony in Christ's restored church! She was so excited to be baptized, she invited all of her family to be there!! Elaine told us she really wanted to be an example to them and she's already being the best missionary! All of her family came to support her and they said they'll be coming to church next Sunday!

We've been meeting with Elaine's neighbor, Leslie, as well. And let me tell y'all, your prayers have given Leslie SO much strength! He has a new motivation to quit his addictions! He called us later Saturday and said he wants to be baptized on December 16th! I have seen Leslie grow so much in his testimony as he's reading the book of Mormon and experiencing the joy it brings!

I was feeling stressed last night and just needed to clean the apartment, specifically vacuum. However, our vacuum was broken! I had to turn into Sister Handyman for a minute and fix it up! After so much frustrating effort, I put everything back into place I said a little prayer to Heavenly Father hoping the vacuum would just be fixed. I turned it on and it worked!

We invited Ella to pray and ask Heavenly Father how He felt about her. She prayed! This was a big step for Ella! She told us these answers came to her mind: "You are my child, I want you to return back to me, and you are special!"

I know Heavenly Father answers our prayers, big and small!!

And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you.

Rat-a-tat-tat, what's that?

This week kept us on our toes! We met with a lot of media referrals and it was such a blessing to see how god had prepared them all! We started teaching 11 new people this week and each has their own individual challenges and concerns from life. The blessing for me is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them to help them find the best joy!

Few examples: someone cried to us about her worries for her family members- we shared how much God loves her and is aware of her and how she is a child of God. Another, recognized us as missionaries, opened the door for us, and expressed her worries about the world- we shared Heavenly Father's plan for His children and how she has a role in that perfect plan. Another felt restless & scared- so we shared the peace that comes from reading the Book of Mormon.
The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me so much joy, peace, comfort, safety, direction, and knowledge! I am beyond grateful to share some of that to the people in South Carolina!

Elaine asked us why she needed to be baptized again if she's already been baptized (we get this question every day haha). We talked more about it with her. When we came back for our next lesson she told us she found her answer in the Book of Mormon! This made my missionary heart SO happy! She said her answer was, "even though I've been baptized before, I need to be baptized with this authority so I can get the gift of the Holy Ghost" Elaine will be baptized and receive the holy ghost November the 18th, two days before her birthday!!
Speaking of birthdays, I had my 20th birthday yesterday! It was a great day! Nothing different from a normal day as a missionary😁 we had a few friends come to church and the members took great care of them!! Then there was a baptism after church that our friends stayed for!
Fun Stories~
We started teaching someone and they told us they have rats in their little house! It definitely kept things exciting as we were teaching because you could hear shuffling behind you and then see the blankets on the wall move. A rat could have come out of anywhere and anytime! Luckily, we didn't have one jump out at us :)

Our apartment FLOODED. A waterline broke under my sink and in a short amount of time there was water everywhere! Once we got the water shut off, there was an inch of standing water in my bathroom, in the walkway, and in our doorway... A maintenance guy came and extracted the water but our carpet is still kinda wet :l

We hiked Issaqueena Falls today! It was beautiful with all of the fall colors! I got to see what is the closest thing to a mountain in South Carolina (a little hill) haha! We explored stumphouse tunnel as well!

The fun side of missionary work

For the best experience, expand the viewer to full screen mode and turn your volume up...

Love the innocent goofiness of these two together, and the challenge it was to pull off a straight face by the time the door opens.

Yeah, they heard inside the house too on their camera, so they were kind enough to share with them to add some embarrassment.

Thanks to Sister Clark for being a sport and sharing with us!

"Have YOU been saved??"

I hope yall had a good Halloween! In case you're wondering what missionaries do for Halloween, we had our district meeting, did a few visits and lessons, then came home at 6:30pm and carved a pumpkin! We had a pumpkin carving contest with the whole mission!

This week was great, we saw many miracles! We met with our friend Elaine and she's been taught for a while. We invited her to be baptized and she said yes! Elaine is the sweetest! I'm so excited for her! When we taught her about the spirit world she was so happy to know her sons, who have passed, are waiting for her there and are learning the gospel too!

On Saturday, we had a rough start to our day. We went to visit a media referral but it was his mom's house. She told us she's already saved. A common response we get here, and a common response we give is to ask, "that's amazing!! What does being saved mean to you?" She must've thought we were being condescending because she almost swung the door off the hinges and said, "what does being saved mean to me- have YOU been SAVED?" And then turned around and stormed off into her house again. The next person we tried to visit we parked on the side of the road near the neighbors house. And  I kind of parked in their yard... when we got out of the car the neighbor asked us to move it. I felt so bad!! But when we were walking back to our car he realized we were missionaries! He told us how members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helped his dad after a bad hurricane a couple years ago and that he was so grateful!! That made my whole day turn around!🌼

That's pretty much it! I love y'all and Jesus does too!!🤍
